尤賽氏綜合症為遺傳之罕見疾病，病徵為聽力及視力之雙重缺損。BeHEARD 2015 罕見疾病挑戰是由位於美國馬里蘭州的罕見基因體機構The Rare Genomic Institute (RGI) 所提供之全球競爭型科學研究獎勵，該機構匯集來自工業界及學術界合作夥伴的資源以期加速罕見疾病遺傳診斷及治療之研究發展。
The Rare Genomic Institute (RGI) has awarded our faculty member Dr. Yung-Hao Ching with BeHEARD (Helping Empower & Accelerate Research Discoveries) Silver prizes to support molecular diagnose research in Usher syndrome (USH), a rare genetic disorder that cause inner ear damage and retinal degeneration. This research project is an active collaboration between Department of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics and Department of Tzu Chi University and Department of ophthalmology, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital.
The BeHEARD 2015 rare disease science challenges is a global competition to cutting-edge research technologies from 18 industry and academic partners to accelerate the diagnostic therapies and cures of rare diseases. The Rare Genomic Institute (RGI) is an international non-profit organization located in Hanover, MD, USA. The institute is funded to gathering resourced from industry and academic partners to accelerate discover cure for rare diseases and to relive pain and distresses experienced by patients and their families.
BeHEARD (Helping Empower & Accelerate Research Discoveries) is a division of RGI focused on providing support to scientific communities to accelerate the diagnostic therapies and cures of rare diseases. Dr. Yung-Hao Ching is a assistant professor at the department of molecular biology and human genetics, Tzu Chi University. She specialized in study molecular mechanisms of human genetic diseases using mouse as model organism.
